About

Leading scholars and activists will gather for this advanced virtual symposium to examine the issue of natural resources extraction and the impact of pollutants and toxicity on the lives of women. The experiences of affected communities will be explored through the multidisciplinary and theological lens of integral ecology, which includes economic, social, political, and biological factors.

This event is structured to enable dialogue across the academic disciplines and with practitioners experienced in working among those who have been impacted by extractive industries.

Participation is by invitation only.

Publications

An edited volume Women, Ecology, and Solidarity Across Theory and Practice will be edited by Hilda Koster and Celia Deane-Drummond (for the series Explorations in Theology, Gender, and Ecology with Bloomsbury Press). From theological and other disciplinary perspectives, it will explore the impact of natural resources extraction on women.
