LSRI celebration featured in The Tablet

The Tablet has published a piece on the LSRI celebration event, “Realistic Hope: Theological Ethics and Conservation Practice,” that took place on 23 June in Oxford. The event marked the Institute’s activity to date and shared its intentions for the future to a live and virtual audience.

The celebration opened with welcome and introductions from Revd Dr Nick Austin, SJ, Master of Campion Hall, The Very Revd Professor Jane Shaw, Principal of Harris Manchester College and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Oxford University, and Dr Celia Deane-Drummond, Director of the LSRI.

Joining virtually, Professor Lisa Sowle Cahill, Boston College, gave a talk entitled, “Realistic Hope in Apocalyptic Times: The Ecological Challenge to Catholic Social Teaching”, with a response from Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, from the Holy See’s Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development. A talk by Dr Enric Sala from National Geographic followed, entitled, “The Nature of Nature: Why We Need the Wild.”
