Feast of Creation

Over the last two years, the Laudato Si' Research Institute has been supporting an ecumenical process to secure observance of a Feast of Creation on 1 September across worldwide communions. This work has involved multiple denominations and ecclesial organisations and has led to conferences held in Assisi in March 2024, December 2024 and May 2025.

This promising ecumenical process is unprecedented in the long history of Christianity. It is symbolically important in a year in which we are celebrating the 1,700 anniversary of the ecumenical council of Nicaea.

Our hope is that this new Feast of Creation, grounded in our common faith and distinct traditions, could be a tangible gesture of Christian unity that might continue to bear fruit way beyond the Nicaea centenary.
