In his role as Director of the Integral Ecology Research Network (IERN), Peter leads the global promotion of the integral ecology research. He facilitates academic initiatives and fosters partnerships, with an emphasis on collaborations with institutions in the Global South. Focused on integral ecology and addressing the needs of the most environmentally vulnerable, IERN’s aim is to forge a global academic network rooted in scientific exploration that supports practitioners and policymakers. Peter invites scholars, scientists, and all interested parties to join in this vital mission.

Experience

Peter has academic expertise with a broad disciplinary base. After completing his doctorate in Government at Georgetown University, Washington DC, he took up an appointment as Research Scholar and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Political Science, Santa Clara University, California. This was followed by appointment as Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In Brussels, Belgium, he was the Director of the Jesuit European Social Centre; there he founded the European Leadership Programme. In 2023, he was Senior Researcher and then Director at the Environmental Justice Program (EJP) at Georgetown University, Washington DC.

Peter's professional journey involves a rich history within research and educational institutions, coupled with experience in management and coaching. His expertise extends to innovating and maintaining high-quality international programs and cultivating strategic partnerships. Peter has a track record for providing visionary thought leadership and fostering positive organizational culture. He is also skilled in organizational reinvention, involving talent cultivation and fund generation.

Accomplishments: Last Ten Years

  • Published 17 peer-reviewed articles, 5 edited-volume chapters, 180+ essays/pieces.
  • Coached 200+ students, young professionals, business executives, political and NGO actors.
  • Tripled the staff size of an institution, doubled its revenue, and multiplied customers.
  • Fundraised over a million euros for educational, environmental and refugee causes.
  • Co/founded: European Leadership Programme (Brussels); European Laudato Si Alliance (EU); American Slovenian Education Foundation (US); Residential college Magis (SVN).

Born in Slovenia, Peter is a Jesuit priest. Outside his professional roles, he holds certification as a mediator. He is a triathlete and enjoys modern ballet, Bach, Mozart, Queen, and ice cream.
